David Osinski of the American Baseball Foundation, Birmingham AL, brought his BASIC (Baseball & Academic Skills Instructional Course) to the IPS Champs Camp in mid-July at Howe Academy. About 50 youngsters from Indianapolis Public Schools spent the week working on baseball fundamentals and learning the history of the sport and sharpening their math skills.
Dave Scott, head baseball coach at Washington High School, Eric Mertl of the Men's Senior Baseball League, and Scott Satterthwaite, Play Ball Indiana intern, were among the several volunteer instructors for the week.
